Tree Felling

What is Tree Felling?

Tree felling is the cutting down of a tree. The traditional method is to fell a tree from ground level using directional felling to control the rate and direction of fall.  The more specialised method is to dismantle the tree in sections lowering the sections to ground level in a controlled manner.  This method is often used in areas with limited access or where hazards are present around the base of the tree.

Why Consider Tree Felling?

Tree felling / removal may be required for a number of reasons, health and safety concerns, disease eradication and control, to abate a nuisance, or as a planning requirement etc.

In the event of a diseased tree, Tree Felling should be considered to control, eradicate or prevent the spread of the disease.  The infected tree has the potential to infect neighbouring trees with the subsequent loss of tree cover in the area.  Diseased trees often, if not controlled, become dangerous unsafe trees.

In the event of dangerous, unsafe trees, it is necessary to take action to prevent the tree falling onto the area underneath and causing damage.  Dangerous trees can become a hazard with the potential to cause damage to buildings, structures, people, property and vehicles.
